Listening to the horse when you ride
Posted by Il Paretaio Staff on Sunday 02 June 2013 in Events
My husband and I have been teaching to over 10.000 students at our Horse Riding Centre in Tuscany so we can say that we have a wide experience. Therefore we can make some considerations about some habits that can affect good riding.
We have found that one of the main problems in riders is that they often do things without paying attention to the reaction of the horse. Our aim is to start a rider or to retrain an experienced rider to listen to the minimum changes in the horse giving himself and the horse the time to feel it.
Time is in fact another important factor that very often is not taken enough into consideration by riders and horse riding instructors.
Very often we see reactions of impatience by riders that, even just leading a horse, do not give him enough time to answer to a request. Again, in our weekly horse riding programmes, we insist on the importance of taking the time to allow the horse to understand the commands both on the ground (leading, lungeing, working the horse on hand) and riding them. Obviously at Il Paretaio, our horse riding centre in Tuscany, the situation to work on and develop these important items is idylic because the riders find themselves in a totally isolated place surrounded only by beauty and calm.
The horses and the horse riding instructor will lead the student to find a subtle and deep connection with the horse giving him the time to do it and not being pressed by the normal routine of life that many riders have at home. in this special situation they can dedicate time to the horse riding details, often discovering very important sensations that can improve enormously their riding performance.

We are so pleased to pass all our equestrian aknowledge to the young instructors who want to learn how to teach following the principles of lightness and balance.
We are so proud of the results of our students both as instructors and as competition riders who have been training at our horse riding centre Il Paretaio, in Tuscany.
The first thing that we teach is always :simple is better!

Posted by Il Paretaio Staff on Sunday 17 March 2013 in Events
Pietro starts to compete again with his 5 years old Red Tiger after having qualified for the National Young horses championship last year. We hope that our training on the flat will bring good results in the show jumping!
Recently many show jumpers come to our horse riding centre asking us to teach them exercises to make the horse jump better and some of them got very good results in competition.

Usignol - new arrival at our Horse riding center in Tuscany
Posted by Il Paretaio Staff on Tuesday 12 February 2013 in Events
We are very excited to introduce Usignol, the new arrival at our horse riding center in tuscany. He is a 3 year old Meren (a french breed) who has come directly from the mountains to us here at Il Paretaio. This horse is truly fantastic! We are taking our time with his training, following our principles of classical dressage, though with his amazing character he may well be able to give a few riding lessons sooner than we know!

This video of Richard Spooner jumping in competition is an example of the importance of trust between horse and rider that we wanted to share with all our horse riders and non, as we feel it is an important part of riding that we try to pass on through our riding lessons at our horse riding center in tuscany

A study by one of our students at the University of Limerick, Ireland

Through our students at Il Paretaio, horse riding center in Tuscany, we are linked to many equine studies and researches made by equestrian universities around the world. This is very stimulating and interesting for us aswell as for our guests that come for their dressage clinics every year to our beautiful riding center. Here is a selection of photos taken during a study of Equine science at the university of Limerick in Ireland where the students had to paint the muscular and skeletal system onto their horses, and then stud the movement of the horse and the impact on their muscles and bones while working freely over jumps.

Horse riding in Tuscany is always nice. Every season offers different advantages. The colours of sunset are always amazing and unbelivable. A holiday in Tuscany is something you willnever forget.
My Only Regret Is That We Don't Live Closer
Posted by Louise Motum on Wednesday 05 December 2012 in Guestbook
I visited Il Paretaio with a friend recently, found it via the internet, read about it booked it and then hoped it lived up to everything I hoped. It wildly exceeded any expectations I had. Il paretaio is amazing, my friend and I had not ridden for a number of years, Jenny was a fantastic instructor taking time to let us get our confidence back. The scenery is spectacular and the food was amazing, all the staff at Il Paretaio made us feel so welcome and nothing was ever too much trouble. The horses are beautifully trained following classical methods and really taught me a lot. I was a different rider by the end of the week and I can't thank the instructors and horses enough for a truly amazing week. I am recommending Il Paretaio to everyone I know and my only regret is that we don't live closer.

My friend and I have just spent the most magical week ever. We have not ridden for a few years and were a little worries, but everyone was kind, understanding and very patient. The horses were amazing, Jenny was inspiring and this gave us both confidence to ride and even not be nervous! The facilities were amazing, the food out of this world. We did a pasta making course one day and it just added to the awesome things we did. Every view was a postcard, every horse was kind, they truly follow the classic riding training, and the instructors were out of this world. This place was better than we had imagined and hoped for. AWESOME!

There must be a reason why people keep coming back....

There must be a reason why people keep coming back!
I have been at Il Paretaio 12 times so far, but there are others who have come and come again more than 20 times! We scandinavians tend to use too strong aids, but after a week at Il Paretaio you return home as a softer rider. Lessons with perhaps only two riders mean that you get a lot of attention, and softness and relaxation is much emphasized. The horses are lovingly kept, and you get a horse that suits your ability, - old or young, novice or experienced rider.
I have friends who tell me that they never learned so much in one week before! When you come back Cristina and Gianni remember how you rode last time, even many years back!
A holiday with a meaning!

A nice video of the good training and relationship of a nice friend of us and his horse ( a frision stallion) on the web site www.addestramentoetlogico.it
Horse'sTraining philosophy of Il Paretaio- Filosofia di addestramento cavalli al Paretaio
Posted by Il Paretaio Staff on Friday 02 November 2012 in Events
We believe in a soft, sympathetic and intelligent method when training horses which is based on RESULTS and not TIME.
In our experience in training we have seen that most of the times resistance comes either from phisical reasons or for the human's fault
